Parking Services

The Department of Transportation manages all of the public parking assets in the District of Columbia. That includes approximately 17,000 metered parking spaces across the District and all of the curbside parking in the city’s residential neighborhoods.

With demand high for parking, especially in the District’s vibrant commercial corridors, DDOT has established a number of special programs and parking pilots to ensure the limited parking resources provide the maximum benefit to the city’s residents, visitors and workers. That includes: the Residential Permit Parking (RPP) system, Visitor Parking Pilots and Performance Based Parking Pilots.

Parking for Persons with Disabilities

The enforcement protocol that was set for the Red Top Meter program is temporarily halted due to the 90-day emergency legislation passed by DC Council on Tuesday, March 20, 2012.
