Facilities Management - Grass Mowing
The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) maintains small parks, athletic fields, and ball fields across the District. Parks and fields are maintained throughout the year with a regular schedule of mowing and other services.
From Spring to Fall, grass is mowed by hand or mechanically to achieve a uniform, aesthetically pleasing appearance at each DPR facility. Mowing is performed to minimize the projection of grass clippings to paved surfaces, planting beds, pool areas, drainage structures, retaining walls, curbs, fences lines, and other adjacent areas.
During every other scheduled mowing, edging, trimming, and weeding of tree rings, planting beds, drainage structures, retaining walls, curbs, fence lines, and other landscaping elements is performed. If mowing is delayed because of weather, the mowing schedule will shift one day (for example, Tuesday mowing moves to Wednesday) for each day of delay until mowing can return to the regular schedule.
If a park or athletic field is in need of mowing or maintenance, please contact DPR's Facilities Management Division at (202) 671-3408.
