Guy Mason Recreation Center - Interior Renovation Project
About the Project
The Interior Renovation Project for the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) Guy Mason Recreation Center, 3600 Calvert Street, NW, will help guide the building renovation and addition to the community center that is integrated into the other uses of the surrounding park.
Guy Mason is currently in need of building renovations and an addition to provide improved recreational programs to the community. Current center programs include: art, music, dancing, movie nights, bridge, yoga, foreign language classes, poetry, neighborhood committee meetings, photography, and stage performances.
Schedule and Status
After a number of community meetings and significant community input, the master plan for Guy Mason was completed in September 2008. Initial building HAZMAT work will begin in January 2010, and full renovation work is scheduled to begin in March 2010. The work is anticipated to be complete by June 2011.
