Deanwood Community Center and Library
About the Project
The Deanwood Community Center and Library is a colocation project between the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and DC Public Library. The new center will be a 63,000 square-foot facility located at 49th and Quarles Streets, NE, and feature both recreation and library programs and services.
Features and amenities of the new facility will include:
- Designed and constructed as a Green building to meet LEED Silver certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design "LEED")
- Indoor leisure swimming pool
- Indoor gymnasium
- Locker rooms
- Game room
- Library
- Childcare facilities
- Dedicated senior services area
- Kitchen
- Multipurpose room
- Community room
Schedule and Status
Construction began in December 2008 and is scheduled to be complete in summer 2010.
