Gray; Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans; Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) Acting Director Sharia Shanklin; Department of General Services (DGS) Director Brian Hanlon, ANC 2D02 Commissioner Eric Lamar, Friends of Mitchell Park President Pierre Wagner and the Mitchell Park community members for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and Mitchell Park Fun Day at the newly renovated Mitchell Park Playground.

The Mitchell Park Playground represents the natural beauty of the park and playground in the Mitchell Park community.  This playground is one of the eight newly added playground renovations under Mayor Gray’s Play DC: Playground Improvement Initiative.  For FY 2014, Mayor Gray added 8 additional playgrounds, bringing the total number of Play DC playgrounds to 40.

New features at Mitchell Park playground include: a swing set for all ages; a tot structure with a bridge, slide and learning panels; school age fitness structure with single and double slides, a spyroslide and corkscrew climber; and more.
