Park Partners

Park Partners are groups or organizations who have a signed "cooperative agreement" with the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) to be a designated steward of a particular DPR park or recreation center. DPR strives to extend resources and support to our Park Partners in an effort to improve and care for our shared public lands and facilities as well as to bolster civic engagement at our parks and recreation centers.

‘Friends of’ Park Partners

'Friends of' partners, or simply 'Friends,' are 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations whose mission includes supporting the park or recreation facility they wish to adopt. Friends groups advocate, fundraise, maintain and assist in the planning process for the park or recreation facility they are associated with. Friends may also choose to support programming at their site by purchasing and donating sports and play equipment and other materials that staff and volunteers may need to run various site programs. Fundraising efforts by friends groups may happen on site or off site, with the understanding that all funds raised will be deposited into a dedicated bank account and will be used toward the improvement of and care for the park or recreation facility.
