DPR to Host Second Annual City-Wide Community Day of Service

(Washington, DC) - The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) will host the Second Annual City-Wide Community Day of Service on Saturday, September 6, 2014 from 10 am to 12 pm.  Approximately 30 locations will participate in this year's day of service.

Day of Service volunteer opportunities will take place at select DPR recreation centers, parks or DPR events. The event theme is the agency initiative - "Move, Grow, Be Green with DPR." The scope of the community service will include many projects including recreation center fall cleaning, parks weeding, parks trimming and more.  Join the DPR Volunteers division as we beautify and enhance parks and recreation centers throughout the District.

The Volunteers Division invites all individuals, organizations, groups and corporations that are willing to volunteer for this Day of Service. DPR will provide items such as t-shirts, gloves, water bottles and light refreshments.

Please go to http://bit.ly/DPRDayOfService to register as an individual, family, group, organization or corporation.  Everyone is invited to participate, however online registration is required.  Locations will be assigned base on participants registration information. Participants will be contacted by a DPR Volunteers Division staffer with all the pertinent information for the Day of Service.
