Washington, DC - The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) will open registration for Spring Break Camp on Monday, March 3, 2014, at 10 am. DPR offers the annual camp for youth, ages 3 to 13 years old. Spring Break Camp will operate from Monday, April 14 to Friday, April 18, 2014, from 9 am to 5 pm. Camp will not operate on Wednesday, April 16, in observance of the Emancipation Day holiday, when DPR and all government facilities will be closed.

Before care will be offered from 8 am to 9 am, and after care will be offered from 5 pm to 6 pm. Registration is open to both District and non-District residents, and the registration fee is $40 per child, with an additional $10 for before and after care. All fees are due at the time of registration, and fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

DPR's Spring Break Camp will operate in conjunction with DC Public Schools' spring break schedule. Camp activities include sports, games, character-education exercises, and arts and crafts. DPR's goal is to plant the seeds of personal development and environmental responsibility in a fun and engaging recreation setting.

Breakfast and lunch are not provided during Spring Break Camp, and parents are reminded to send their children with lunch and an afternoon snack every day. Parents are also reminded of DPR's policy on food and snacks. In an effort to be mindful of allergies, food items containing peanut or other nut products are not permitted. Each camper should wear comfortable clothes and sneakers and bring a reusable water bottle to the camp.
