(Washington, DC)  – Today, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced participation in National Park(ing) Day.  DPR's Park(ing) Day will take place "curbside" DPR Central Office at 1250 U St., NW from 9 am to 3 pm on Friday, September 19, 2014.

Park(ing) Day is an annual, open-source, worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens collaborate to temporarily transform metered parking spaces into temporary public "parks".  The mission of Park(ing) Day is to call attention to the need for more urban open space.

DPR will celebrate Park(ing) Day 2014 with an array of activities.  We invite everyone to come out and enjoy a day of activities that will include:

  • Imagination play ground set, which is an interactive, transformable play set that allows user to create anything they can imagine
  • Board games including chess and checkers
  • Basketball court
  • Ping Pong
  • Foosball and more

For additional information, please contact DPR's Small Parks Department at (202) 294-2840.
