Due to popular demand, DPR Summer Camps routinely reach capacity within days, sometimes within hours of opening registration. In order to facilitate offerings for as many residents as possible, DPR works diligently to provide information to District families to prepare them for the registration process.
The below is a list of frequently asked questions that may arise during the summer camp registration process. Please browse through the question prompts and heed the corresponding answers.
- I have already registered my child for a DPR summer camp at another location. Would I be able to transfer my child to one of the new locations?
Yes, however, transfers must be requested in writing. DPR would not be able to process any transfers until after registration opens on Monday, March 25 at 12pm, and would only be able to process the transfer if there is availability at the desired location. Due to the high demand of DPR camps, it is quite possible that all locations will fill within the first few minutes of registration.
- How did DPR decide on the new camp locations?
DPR worked with DCPS to determine the DCPS locations that would be used for summer camps. Both agencies looked at a variety of factors including but not limited to the location of current summer offerings, summer school locations, and space availability.
- Will families currently on the wait list get preferential registration
No, registration will be first-come, first-served, and will be made available to the public at 12pm regardless of wait list status.
- Why isn't a Session 4 offered at the DCPS locations?
DPR Summer Camps at the DCPS locations will only offer three camp sessions to allow the school teams at DCPS to prepare for the start of the school year. The last day of camp at DCPS locations will be Friday, July 26, 2019.
- Will Before and After Care by made available at the DCPS locations?
Yes. Before Care will be offered 8am -9am, and After Care will be offered 5pm - 6pm.
