  • Spring Urban Garden Certificate Course
The Spring Urban Gardener Certificate Course (SUGCC) is a 16-class series that will cover a variety of topics about urban gardening in DC from garden design, organic management, critter-proof composting, cooking what you grow, food justice in DC and many more.  This course is seven weeks long, comprised of 16 2-hour classes and field trips total, and all taught by experienced urban garden teachers who are currently creating and managing the Districts leading urban agriculture projects.  This is a chance to learn urban gardening from DC’s leading urban gardeners.  After the completion of this course each participant you will receive a certificate and the knowledge and experience to create and manage a successful urban garden.  This course is offered in February through May.
  • Garden Carpentry Course
An annual, free, 3 workshop course (10 hours total) that covers all the basics of carpentry needed to build an innovative urban garden.  Please note, participants must enroll and complete all 3 workshops in this course series.

  • Summer Urban Garden Series
From Urban Garden 101 to Organic Disease/Pest Maintenance to Garden Cooking to Bee Keeping, over 50 free, individual urban gardening workshops and field trips are offered through this 5 month series held annually from May to September.  Participants are able to sign up for as many (or as few) series worshops as they desire.  Workshops are held at Raymond Recreation Center, Deanwood Recreation Center or various Urban Gardening Partner/Contractor locations.

  • Fall Urban Master Composter Certificate Course
This short course will focus 100% on multiple urban composting systems that are critter proof, environmentally responsible, free of any foul odors and functioning right now in DC.  Learn the best practices and knowledge to set up each of these systems in any DC environment from the people who are leading DPR’s responsible composting movement. Then join the movement.  Help us make urban composting responsible.

This short course is a 10-class, 30 hour course with a volunteer requirement to receive a Urban Master Composter Certificate.
