(Washington, DC) - Today, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced that Fort Stevens Senior Center and Recreation Center (1327 Van Buren St., NW) will be closed indefinitely, due to an electrical fire on Wednesday, December 19 on the Senior Center side. Both the senior center and the recreation center have been affected by the fire.  DPR and the Department of General Services (DGS) currently have crews in the site, assessing and repairing the damage.  The centers are expected to be offline for at least a week.

All programs, events and indoor permitted events taking place at the center are cancelled.

Constituents will be notified when the senior center and recreation center re-open.
