Kids, Camps & Co-op

Every year, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) offers a variety of exciting urban camping opportunities for youth ages 3 to 17. These opportunities include sports camps, aquatic camps, therapeutic camps, and other day camps. Additionally, DPR partners with the District Department of Employment Services to host a number of exciting teen career camps. DPR's Kids, Camps & Co-op Programs

  • Afternoon Access - The Afternoon Access program offers children a safe, supportive, and structured afterschool environment Monday through Friday for up to 3.5 hours. Activities provide quality recreational and cultural experiences that promote physical, intellectual, and emotional development. These activities include homework time, arts & crafts, sports & fitness, enrichment activities and much more! The daily schedule is designed to complement activities that children participate in at their schools and to strengthen their sense of belonging in their communities. Afternoon Access is free, but registration is required.
  • Cooperative Play Program - Cooperative play advances youth development using outcome-based programming and creative curriculum designed to foster growth and healthy play. Local parents and DPR childcare professionals collaborate to run this expansive program for ages 1.5 - 4 years old at DPR locations throughout the District.
  • DPR Fun Days - For select DC Public Schools (DCPS) full-day closures, DPR offers a Fun Day Camp, which is a single-day program offering fun and enriching activities (such as sports activities, arts and crafts, and more) for children, ages 6–12 years old. DPR strives to meet the needs of District families when the District's public schools have planned closures.  
  • Enrichment Zone - The DC Department of Parks and Recreation’s (DPR) Enrichment Zone program offers children a safe, supportive, and structured afterschool environment Monday through Friday for up to 1.5 hours. Activities provide quality recreational and cultural experiences that promote physical, intellectual, and emotional development. These activities include homework time, arts & crafts, sports & fitness, enrichment activities and much more! The daily schedule is designed to complement activities that children participate in at their schools and to strengthen their sense of belonging in their communities.
  • Spring Break Camp - DPR offers full-day Spring Break Camps during DC Public Schools' (DCPS) Spring Break. Camps are broken into 3 age groups: 3 to 5 years old, 6 to 12 years old, and 8 to 13 years old; and take place. DPR provides youth with a variety of structured games, sports, character-education exercises, and arts and crafts. Our goal is to plant the seeds of personal development and environmental responsibility in a fun and engaging recreation setting.
  • Summer Camps - DPR hosts dozens of summer camps throughout the District.
  • Winter WonderCamp - The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) offers a full-day camping option for 6-12-year-olds during the DC Public Schools (DCPS) winter break: Winter Wondercamp!
