Join Mayor Vincent C. Gray; Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans; Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) Acting Director Sharia Shanklin; Department of General Services (DGS) Director Brian Hanlon; ANC 2B05 Abigail Nichols and Friends of Stead Park (FOSP) President Christopher Dorment and the Stead community members for a ribbon cutting ceremony at Stead field.

The Friends of Stead Park have been extremely instrumental in the renovation of the Stead field, plaza space and splash pad area. The renovations will include: converting the existing athletic field from grass to synthetic turf and an installation of a rubberized running track around the perimeter of the field; a plaza space that will include an outdoor stage for community events, picnic tables and seating area; a splash pad; new landscaping and shade trees.  In compliance with DC Department of the Environment’s (DDOE) new storm water management regulations, a bio-retention area has also been added to improve the site’s storm water retention.
