(Washington, DC) - The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is excited to announce a three day collaboration with the Potomac Valley Association and the DC Boxing Commission to host the 2016 Mayor's Cup Amateur Boxing Tournament, a historic event held in the district for over 20 years. The tournament will be held from Friday, July 29 through Sunday, July 31, 2016 at the new Ridge Road Recreation Center (810 Ridge Road, SE).

The event, is a three-day tournament where DC boxers compete against boxers in neighboring states that include North Carolina, New York, and West Virginia. The tournament is open to amateur boxers including women and men athletes ages 8 and up with a current US Amateur Boxing Passbook. The tournament features the future of boxing as many of the athletes that have competed in the tournament have gone on to become world and pro regional champions.

Admission to the event is free and open to the public however due to spacing, attendees are asked to RSVP.
