Dog Parks

DPR manages and maintains dog parks throughout the District. These areas are fenced in with enough space for friendly dogs to run free without leashes. Please do not bring your pet to a DPR dog park if it interacts with other dogs in an aggressive manner.

DC leash law: Under the DC Animal Control Act, all dogs on any public space in the District, other than in a dog park designated by DPR, must be firmly secured by a leash at all times. Refer to the Dogs in the District of Columbia brochure for an overview of all dog laws and regulations.

To apply for the potential addition of a dog park in your neighborhood, please fill out the DPR Dog Park Application and return the signed document to the following address:

Attn: Capital Projects
DC Department of Parks and Recreation
1275 First Street, NE, 8th Floor
Washington D.C. 20002

DPR encourages you to utilize our great dog parks across the city. You can find one nearest you by using the interactive map below. Click here to learn more about the history and selection process for DPR maintained dog-friendly spaces.
