A new entrance was constructed at the Palisades Community Center, 5200 Sherrier Place, NW. In Fall 2007, a vacant house on the property was removed, and the open space adjacent to Sherrier Place was redesigned. The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) developed design proposals with community input. Outreach revealed a preference for unprogrammed open space and parking area.
The project, completed in January 2011, features new parking lot lighting, landscaping, open space, new benches, fencing, and an interpretive sign.
Other Information
DPR worked in partnership with a number of other government agencies to complete the project including the District's Historic Preservation Office, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), DC Water, and PEPCO.
