The new playground and play courts are now open for use. Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) partnered with the Office of Public Education Facilities Modernization (OPEFM) to renovate the playground, rush rink and play courts at Watkins Field. The project finished in July 2011.

Project elements include:

• new tot lot equipment
• new playground for 6 to 12 year old children
• rubber playground safety surface
• landscaping and rain gardens
• resurface basketball courts and rush rink
• install new dasher boards for rush rink
• install new court amenities (goals)
• install new access points for courts and rush rinks
• replace retaining wall
• new signage

Goal/Milestones :

• Planning Phase—Winter 2011
• Construction Began—Spring 2011
• Construction Complete—July 2011
