
A new state of the art aquatic center is currently being constructed by the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) on the grounds of the Wilson Senior High School campus, 3950 Chesapeake Street, NW.
The new Wilson Aquatic Center was designed and constructed as a Green building to meet LEED Silver certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design "LEED"). Features of the aquatic center include:
- 25-yard by 50-meter competition pool
- Leisure and Wellness Pool
- Adult Whirlpool
- Spectator Seating
- Men's and Women's Locker Rooms
- Family Changing Cabanas
- Safety Center and Meet Room
- Recreation Room
- Vending areas
- Viewing Gallery
- Administration Offices
The new Wilson Aquatic Center also hosts competition events and practice for the Woodrow Wilson High School swim teams. The old aquatic facility was demolished in August 2007.
