Review the list of highlighted events below, and remember this is only a glimpse of the many activities and programs you can find at DPR throughout August. Throughout the year the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) offers an exciting variety of programs, classes, and special events. Listed below are just some of the many activities offered this month by DPR. For more information on these or other events, visit any DPR center.

ROVING LEADERS DIVISION

Skatemobile
This summer the Skatemobile will travel throughout the District and DPR camps during the months of June-September, Sunday through Saturday and some specials events, allowing the youth to experience the mobile roller rink in their communities. The vehicle comes equipped with a sound system and carry’s over 100 skates.

Fun Wagon
DC Parks and Recreation’s Fun Wagon will travel throughout the District and DPR camps this year during the summer months of June –September, Sunday through Saturday and some special events. The Fun Wagon holds excessive activities such as: jump ropes, hoola hoops, skates, scooters, bikes, basketballs etc.

Rock Climbing Wall
The wall has been circulating through District. The wall visits two communities each day. Youth enjoy the challenges of the rock-climbing wall in a safe, physically active environment. 

Move Nite Out
The Movie Night program travels throughout the District hotspots during the summer months. This activity shows family oriented movies for those in the community. This summer we have served over twenty-five hundred (2,500).

SENIOR SERVICE DIVISION

2011 Senior Fun Camp (Overnight Camp)
Camp Riverview, Scotland, MD (Monday, August 22tnd _ Friday, August 26th, 2011)
Senior Fun Camp (last week in August) is about getting away and having fun. Activities include Hand/Line dancing, Zumba and Aerobics/Chair Exercise, Arts and Crafts, Fishing, Games and Entertainment. The Senior Services Division also have the following activities such as Basic Computer Training, Talent Show, Masking Making, Digital Photography tips learning how to prepare healthy meals, learning how to check your own blood pressure and learning how to control/manage your diabetes.

Ty-Hop Basketball Tournament
