Bowser Administration to Host Halloween Fun at Events Across the District
(Washington, DC) – The Bowser Administration, led by the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), will host dozens of Halloween events from October 24 – October 31, 2022. These free events for youth, adults, and pets promise treats, and a perhaps a few tricks for residents throughout all eight wards.
“As the place 'where fun happens,' DPR knows how to create a Halloween to remember in the District.” said DPR Director Delano Hunter. “From witches to superheroes, and all the ghosts and goblins in between, everyone is sure to find a spook-takular time at one of our many DPR Halloween events.”
Highlights of DPR’s Halloween events in 2022 include:
- Mars Wrigley Presents “Candy Land”
- Barry Farm Recreation Center, 1230 Sumner Road, SE
- Monday, October 24, 4:00 – 7:30 PM
- In partnership with Mars Wrigley, this annual event is a candy and costume giveaway along with Halloween festival.
- Ward 7 “Haunted House on the Hill”
- Fort Davis Recreation Center, 1400 41st Street, SE
- October 26, 27, and 28, 6:00 – 8:30 PM each day
- This annual tradition is back offering a scary, fun-filled tour of the haunted house.
- Monster Tennis Smash
- Banneker Tennis Courts, 2500 Georgia Ave NW
- October 26, 6:00 – 8:30 PM
- Come in costume ready to play some tennis along with Halloween-themed music, tennis instruction, treats, and more.
- Intergenerational Spooky Greets & Treats
- Fort Stevens Recreation Center, 1327 Van Buren Street, NW
- October 28, 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Seniors and youth are invited to experience spooky greets and sweet treats.
- Howl-O-Ween
- Guy Mason Community Center Dog Park, 3600 Calvert Street, NW
- October 29, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Halloween is for furry friends too at this doggie costume contest.
- Pop-Up Pumpkin Patch & Resource Fair
- King-Greenleaf Recreation Center, 201 N Street, SW
- October 29, 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Enjoy pumpkins, Halloween fun, and a candy drop along with organizations and agencies sharing information on resources available to the community.
- Wheels Up, Hay Down: Roving Leaders Fall Festival
- Oxon Run Park, 1200 Block of Mississippi Avenue, SE
- October 31, 5:00 – 8:00 PM
- Join the DPR for a fun-filled fall festival with the area’s first-ever candy drop where candy is dropped to children from a fire truck ladder.
- Haunted Hoops
- Trinidad Recreation Center, 1310 Childress Street, NE
- October 31, 4:30 – 7:00 PM
- Participate in a 3-on-3 basketball tournament in costume or just enjoy the arts and crafts, picture booth, and treats.
