Department of Parks and Recreation Invites Residents and Their Dogs to Doggie Day Swim 2024
(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), and DC Health announced the return of Doggie Day Swim 2024 on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., at four outdoor pool locations across the District. This unique event invites dog owners and their properly licensed dogs to enjoy time playing in a splash before DPR pools are decommissioned for the season.

Doggie Day Swim DC locations:
- Francis Pool (2435 N Street NW)
- Langdon Park Pool (2860 Mills Avenue NE)
- Ridge Road Pool (830 Ridge Road SE)
- Upshur Pool (4300 Arkansas Avenue NW)
Admission is free; however, all people and dogs must register. Dogs must have a valid DC Health-issued dog license (no photocopies) and tag to enter the pool. Dog licensees should be completed in advance. There are no payments accepted on-site.
To maintain order and to ensure a safe and fun event, dog owners are required to follow these rules:
- All dogs MUST have and wear a valid DC dog license.
- Dog handlers must be 16 years of age or older.
- Dog handlers cannot swim or enter the pool with their dogs.
- Dogs must be sociable and remain leashed while on the pool deck.
- All dogs must be current on vaccinations including rabies and distemper.
- All dogs must be spayed/neutered.
