DPR Announces the 2013 Independence Day Holiday Schedule

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Today, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced the 2013 Independence Day holiday schedule.  All DPR summer camps, recreation/community centers, indoor aquatic facilities and administrative offices are closed for the holiday.

Outdoor aquatic facilities and children's pools will operate on a revised holiday schedule.  Benning Park, Fort Stanton and Langdon Park outdoor pools will be closed on the Independence Day.  Spray parks will operate on their normal schedule, with the exception of Columbia Heights Community Center.

Palisades Community Center (5200 Sherier Pl., NW) will be open for the annual Palisades 4th of July parade.

 
AQUATIC FACILITIES HOURS for THURSDAY, JULY 4, 2013:
- All Indoor Aquatic Facilities will be closed, except for Wilson Aquatic Facility (4551 Fort Dr., NW - Ward 3) which will operate from 9 am to 5 pm.

- All Children’s Pools will be open from 12 pm to 6 pm.

- All Spray Parks, with the exception of the Columbia Heights Community Center, will operate from 10 am to 7 pm.   

- Benning Park, Fort Stanton and Langdon Park outdoor pools will be closed on the Independence Day holiday.
 

The following Aquatic Facilities will operate on Thursday, July 4, 2013:
- Ward 1:
     Banneker Pool (2500 Georgie Ave., NW) || Hours: 12 pm - 6 pm

- Ward 2:
     East Potomac Pool (972 Ohio Dr., NW) || Hours: 12 pm - 6 pm
     Francis Pool (25th & N St., NW) || Hours: 12 pm - 6 pm
     Jelleff Pool (3265 S St., NW) || Hours: 12 pm - 6 pm
     Volta Park Pool (1555 34th St., NW) || Hours: 12 pm - 6 pm

- Ward 3:
     Wilson Aquatic Center  (4551 Fort Dr., NW) || Hours: 9 am - 5 pm

 - Ward 4:
     Upshur Pool (4300 Arkansas Ave., NW) || Hours: 12 pm - 6 pm

- Ward 5:
     Harry Thomas Sr. Pool (1743 Lincoln Rd., NE) || Hours: 12 pm - 6 pm
     Theodore Hagans Pool (3201 Fort Lincoln Dr., NE) || Hours: 12 pm - 6 pm

- Ward 6:
     Randall Pool (25 I St., SW) || Hours: 12 pm - 6 pm
     Rosedale Pool (1701 Gales St., NE) || Hours: 12 pm - 6 pm

- Ward 7:
     Fort Dupont Pool (830 Ridge Rd., SE) || Hours: 12 pm - 6 pm
     Kelly Miller Pool (4900 Brooks St., NE) || Hours: 12 pm - 6 pm

- Ward 8:
     Anacostia Pool (1800 Anacostia Dr., SE) || Hours: 12 pm - 6 pm
     Barry Farm Pool (1230 Sumner Rd., SE) || Hours: 12 pm - 6 pm
     Douglass Pool (1898 Stanton Terr., SE) || Hours: 12 pm - 6 pm
     Oxon Run Pool (501 Mississippi Ave., SE) || Hours: 12 pm - 6 pm

DPR PERMITS, FIELDS AND COURTS:
- Please note that fireworks are not allowed on ANY DPR properties, fields or courts.
- All synthetic fields are closed on Thursday, July 4, 2013.
- All natural fields that have existing permits will remain available for the permit holders.

 

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT FIREWORKS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED ON ALL DPR PROPERTIES.

IT IS ILLEGAL TO USE FIREWORKS ON ANY AND ALL DPR PROPERTY,
INCLUDING FIELDS, COURTS, PLAYGROUNDS, ETC.
