DPR Announces 2013 Labor Day Closures

All Recreation Facilities Closed; Limited Outdoor Aquatic Facilities Open

(Washington, DC) In observance of the Labor Day holiday, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced today that all recreation facilities and administrative offices will be closed Monday, September 2, 2013. The closures include all recreation and community centers, and all Indoor Aquatic Facilities, except the Wilson Aquatic Center at 4551 Fort Dr., NW, which will be open from 9 am – 5 pm.

The following Outdoor Aquatic Facilities will be open Labor Day from 12 pm to 6 pm:

Ward 1: Banneker Pool (2500 Georgia Ave., NW)
Ward 2: East Potomac Pool (972 Ohio Dr., SW); Francis Pool (2435 N St., NW)
Ward 4: Upshur Pool (4300 Arkansas Ave., NW)
Ward 6: Rosedale Pool (1701 Gales St., NE)
Ward 8: Barry Farm Pool (1230 Sumner Rd., SE); Oxon Run Pool (501 Mississippi Ave., SE)

All Recreation Facilites  will re-open Tuesday, September 3, at their regularly scheduled hours. Please check the website for the hours of operation for DPR's Indoor Aquatic Facilities.  

All Outdoor Aquatic Facilities, Children's Pools and Spray Parks will be closed after Labor Day except for the Spray Park at 14th & Park Road, NW, which closes Monday, September 30 at 7 pm; and the East Potomac Pool at 972 Ohio Dr., SW, which closes Sunday, October 13 at 6 pm.

There are no permits for recreation centers or field activities on Labor Day. Parks, playgrounds and fields will be open for general use.
