(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced that two recreation centers and pool sites co-located with schools will close due to school construction and modernization projects.
The schedules are as follows:
Marie Reed Recreation Center and Aquatic Center (2200 Champlain Street NW| Ward1) will close Friday, May 13, 2016. The construction period will continue through August 2017.
* Happy Hollow Children’s Pool will be closed for construction during the 2016 pool season. (It was previously stated that this pool would be open, however Happy Hollow will be closed for the 2016 summer season.)
Watkins Recreation Center and Children’s Pool (420 12th Street SE | Ward6) will close Thursday, June 16, 2016. The construction period will continue through August 2017.
Please note that re-open dates may be subject to change, should any unforeseen maintenance issues occur. Impact to fields is expected to be minimal.
Patrons will be notified if a facility's re-open date will be delayed.
The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) provides quality urban recreation and leisure services for residents and visitors to the District of Columbia.
