(Washington, DC) - Today DPR announced that DPR, Coca-Cola and the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) will recognize a court resurfacing project at Benning Park Recreation Center, Southern Avenue & Fable Street, SE, on Wednesday, July 27th from 10am -1pm. In partnership with The Coca-Cola Company, NRPA is providing grants to communities to improve parks and recreation facilities and increase access to physical activity.

DPR received the grant for tennis and basketball court resurfacing at Benning Park Recreation Center.  DPR will participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony in recognition of the dedication and outstanding work achieved by both NRPA and Coca-Cola Company.

This initiative is helping ensure that families, teens and young adults have inviting places to gather, be active and enjoy the outdoors. Grants to local communities are refurbishing active spaces such as ballfields and basketball courts. Other projects include expanding teen wellness initiatives, installing outdoor fitness equipment and skate park construction.

Coca-Cola will provide DPR Summer campers the opportunity to join the ceremony at Benning Park with a fun-filled day of activities and games.  Campers will be able experience over-sized tricycles, Zorb Balls, etc.  Additionally, Coca-Cola will help beat the heat with cool beverages such as Dasani Water, Powerade and other refreshing options.
