DPR Extends Operating Hours at Many DC Pools

Residents reminded to take necessary precautions during periods of high heat.

DPR extended the operating hours at all District pools on Friday, July 29th due to the extreme high temperatures in the area.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) extended the operating hours at many District pools due to the extreme high temperatures in the area. Washington-area residents and visitors are encouraged to stay cool and safe during this period of high heat.

To help residents beat the heat, the DPR posted extended hours at the following outdoor pools for Friday, July 29, 2011:

Cancellation of Outdoor DPR Youth Activities for July 29

Due to the heat advisory issued for the District of Columbia, DPR has canceled all DPR-sponsored outdoor activities for youth on Friday, July 29. DPR-sponsored adult activities may continue at the discretion of the organizers and permit holders. However, DPR encourages all residents to refrain from outdoor physical activities during such weather conditions.
