(Washington, DC) - Today, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced that Wilson Aquatic Facility - which was scheduled to open on Sunday, September 9th - will remain closed until Saturday, September 15th. An HVAC parts shipment has been delayed, thus DPR must delay opening the facility until this critical component of maintenance work is completed.
During this week, patrons are encouraged to use DPR's Takoma Aquatic Facility or any of DPR's indoor aquatic centers (except for Deanwood, which is also closed for maintenance). DPR recommends that early morning swimmers patronize Marie Reed Aquatic Facility (2200 Champlain Street, NW || 6 am to 9 am - Monday through Thursday) or East Potomac Outdoor Pool (972 Ohio Drive, SW || 8 am to 12 pm - Monday through Friday) during this maintenance closure period.

INDOOR POOLS CLOSURE SCHEDULE
- Wilson Aquatic Center (4551 Fort Davis Dr., NW | Ward 3) will close from Sunday, August 26 through Saturday, September 15, 2012.
- Deanwood Aquatic Center (1350 - 49th St., NE | Ward 7) will close from Sunday, September 2 through Sunday, September 16, 2012.
- Turkey Thicket Aquatic Center (1100 Michigan Ave., NE | Ward 5) will close from Friday, September 14 through Sunday, September 16, 2012.
- William H. Rumsey Aquatic Center (635 North Carolina Ave., SE | Ward 6) will close from Sunday, September 16 through Saturday, October 6, 2012.
- Marie H. Reed Aquatic Center (2200 Champlain St., NW | Ward 1) will close from Sunday, September 16 through Saturday, September 29, 2012.
