DPR Facilities to Close Friday, October 9, 2026, for Annual All-Staff Professional Development

(WASHINGTON, DC) – The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced that all DPR facilities will be closed on Friday, October 9, 2026, for DPR’s Annual All-Staff Professional Development Meeting.

All recreation and community centers, aquatics facilities, and DPR administrative offices will be closed. All parks, playgrounds, athletic courts, and fields will remain open. Previously permitted outdoor events will take place as scheduled.

The 2026 theme, “Professionalizing Play: Back to Basics,” will guide a full day of professional development, including leadership’s FY27 goals and vision, new professional development opportunities, DPR’s Annual Employee Awards, and dedicated time for team connection and reflection. The event aims to strengthen staff skills, celebrate accomplishments, and build unity across DPR in order to better serve the residents of the District of Columbia.

All DPR facilities will resume normal business hours on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
