(Washington, DC) – The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is excited to host the International Taste of the World Festival at Park View Community Center (693 Otis Place, NW) on Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 11 am – 3 pm. Join us on a journey across the borders to San Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico and the Caribbean.
The festival will celebrate international communities throughout the District of Columbia and will highlight their authentic cuisine, games, entertainment and children's activities. In addition, there will be local artistic performances by:
- Grupo AWAL - Guatemalan folkloric dance troupe
- Ballet Folklórico Yaretzi - Mexican folkloric dances from states of Jalisco, Vera Cruz and Nayarit
- Angelica Lopez - A member of the DC Weaving For The Future - Tejiendo Para El Futuro demonstrating back strap loom weaving
- David Amoroso - A Papel Picado artist who will demonstrate how to make designs on paper typically used to decorate the streets and patios in Mexico and Central America for Fiestas and cemeteries during observance of el Día De Los Muertos
