WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced that the agency will offer a cooperative play program (Co-op) at the Deanwood Recreation Center located at 1350 49th Street, NE. This will be the 10th Co-op site within the District, and the first in Ward 7. The program is designed to promote individual growth through respect and understanding in a creative and recreational environment. DPR’s Cooperative Play Program is neither a preschool nor a daycare program. It is a partnership between parents and DPR staff that will provide guidance to help the children explore all of the experiences available through cooperative play.

Days and hours of operation for the Deanwood Co-op will be Monday through Friday, 9:00am - 12:00pm. Please note that the program will follow the DC Public School system calendar for scheduled holidays and closures. The program will begin on Monday, January 30, 2012 and continue through Thursday, May 25, 2012.

Registration for the Deanwood Co-op will open on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at 10:00am.  All registration is completed online and there is no "application" in regard to enrollment. Space fills on a first-come, first-serve basis and enrollment is subject to availability. It is recommended that parents create an online DPR account for all members of their family in our registration system prior to the registration period in order to be best prepared.
