In the wake of the major power outages in the District, DPR is pleased to announced that 15 of the 17 DPR Summer Camps locations that were affected by Saturday's power outages will open on Thursday, July 5th.
(Washington, DC) In the wake of the major power outages in the District after last Saturday's storm, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is pleased to announced that 15 of the 17 DPR Summer Camps locations that were affected by Saturday's city-wide power outages will open on Thursday, July 5th.
The following sites continued to be closed due to power issues. We will keep updating our website and social media platforms with updates as they become available.
Camp sites that continue to be CLOSED are:
- Ferebee Hope Recreation Center - DC Achieve, Camp SCORE & REC Camp
- Hillcrest Recreation Center - Discovery Camp, Little Explorers & Nothing But Net
On Thursday, July 5th - the following camps locations will be open. Power has been restored to these sites and the centers will be operational and back to normal.
Camp sites that are OPEN as of Thursday, July 5th:
- Arboretum Recreation Center - REC Camp
- Chevy Chase Recreation Center (Not CCCC) - Little Explorers
- Cleveland Elementary School - Spanish Immersion Camp
- Fort Davis Community Center - Discovery Camp & Soccer Camp
- Fort Lincoln Recreation Center - Cheerleading Camp
- Hearst Recreation Center - Soccer Camp
- Kenilworth Recreation Center - REC Camp
- Lafayette Recreation Center - Discovery Camp & Little Explorers
- Lederer Gardens - Green Buds Camp (*Lederer will continue to operate from Deanwood Recreation Center.)
- Marie Reed Recreation Center - REC Camp
- Stoddert Recreation Center - Little Explorers
- Therapeutic Recreation Center - Camp Adventure & Camp Funward Bound
- Turkey Thicket Recreation Center - DC Achieve, Little Explorers & Discovery
- Tyler Elementary School - Spanish Immersion Camp
- Watkins Recreation Center – Discovery Camp, Little Explorers & Tween Camp
DPR will continued to provide Summer Camp updates for the remaining camp locations that do not have power restored.
