WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced the release of the 2012 Fall Program Guide.  The Fall program guide will post online today and registration will open at 12 noon on Monday, August 27, 2012.  Digital Photography, Music Appreciation, Slimanstics, SMART Moves, Qi Gong, Fencing, Aerobics, Hand Dancing, a Fitness Bootcamp and much, much more are offered at DPR Recreation Centers and Facilities this Fall.

DPR invites you to review the 2012 Fall Program Guide and encourages District residents to continue to Move, Grow and Be Green.  Even in the fall months, residents can continue the great regiments that were started in the Spring and Summer months.  Move with our amazing new Fitness Bootcamps, Hand Dancing or Fencing; Grow with our Young Ladies on the Rise or Senior Programs; and Be Green with the 'What's Good In My Hood' program.  DPR is excited to host the 2012 Pop Warner Playoffs and Championship Game this year.  We hope to see many residents in the stands, cheering our Pop Warner League teams to victory.

DPR invites you to come out to some of our newly renovated recreation centers, fields, playgrounds and dog parks.  Rosedale Recreation Center re-opened in May of 2012 with a new recreation center, athletic field, gymnasium and pools.  7th and N Street Park; 11th and Monroe Park; and 1st and Florida Avenue Park were renovated and all three parks were unveiled over the Spring and Summer months.  And for the first time ever, the New York Avenue Recreation Center was renovated, with DPR announcing that programming for the New York Avenue Recreation Center, and the soon to open, Randall Recreation Center will go through an RFP process.  Programming contractors who can bring comprehensive, outcomes-based programming will be considered.  The RFP is scheduled to be released in October 2012.  DPR will also open the Bald Eagle Boxing Annex this fall, the boxing annex will be a state-of-the-art boxing facility in Ward 8.

As the weather outside begins to get cooler and the days become shorter, District residents can also continue to enjoy DPR's indoor aquatic facilities. Open year round, residents should take advantage of the many swim classes available for residents of all ages; along with the many sports leagues, teen programs, personal enrichment programs, cultural arts, Senior programs, fitness and exercise, and much more.  Fall into DPR.

A limited number of printed guides will be available at DPR locations, public libraries, and select government agencies.
The current guide can be found on the DPR website.
