DPR Releases the 2012 Winter Holiday Schedule

DPR facilities will be closed on December 25th and January 1st

In observance of the holidays, all DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) facilities will operate on the following schedule:

- All facilities will close early at 6:30 pm on Christmas Eve - Monday, December 24th;
- All facilities will be closed on Christmas Day - Tuesday, December 25th;
- All facilities will close early at 6:30 pm on New Year's Eve - Monday, December 31st;
- and all facilities will be closed on New Year's Day - Tuesday, January 1st.

(WASHINGTON, DC) – In observance of the upcoming winter holidays, all DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) facilities will operate on the following schedule:

  • All facilities will close at 6:30 pm on Monday, December 24th; 
  • All facilities will be closed on Tuesday, December 25th;
  • All facilities will close at 6:30 pm on Monday, December 31st;
  • All facilities will be closed on Tuesday, January 1st;
  • All DPR Recreation and Community centers will operate on an adjusted holiday schedule from December 26th through December 28th and January 2nd through January 4th;
  • DPR Aquatic facilities will maintain normal hours of operation from December 26th through December 28th and January 2nd through January 4th, with the exception of Marie Reed and Ferebee-Hope. 
  • DPR Aquatic facilities Marie Reed and Ferebee-Hope will be closed from Monday, December 24, 2012 through Monday, January 7, 2013.
  • DPR fields will be closed on Tuesday, December 25th and Tuesday, January 1st - no permits will be issued for these two holidays. 
  • DPR's Winter Wondercamp will operate from Wednesday, December 26th through Friday, December 28th and Wednesday, January 2nd through Friday, January 4th.  Spaces are still available and registration is required.

DPR's adjusted holiday schedule will include expanded operating hours from Wednesday, December 26th through Friday, December 28th, and Wednesday, January 2nd through Friday, January 4th at all DPR centers.  Select DPR locations (see the list below) will observe their individual, normal opening hours and will close at 8 pm.  All other sites (sites not listed below) will open at 11:30 am and close at 8 pm.

                  Riggs LaSalle Recreation Center (501 Riggs Road, NE) 
- Ward 5 : North Michigan Park Recreation Center (1333 Emerson Street, NE)
                  Trinidad Recreation Center (1310 Childress Street, NE)
                  Turkey Thicket Recreation Center (1100 Michigan Avenue, NE)
- Ward 6 : Kennedy Recreation Center (1401 7th Street, NW)

**  All remaining DPR sites will operate from 11:30 am to 8 pm.

DPR will operate the DPR Winter Wondercamp from December 26, 2012 through December 28, 2012 and January 2, 2013 through January 4, 2013.  Camps will operate from 9 am to 5 pm, with before-care (8 am to 9 am) and after-care (5 pm to 6 pm).  Camps will be divided by age - 3 to 5 years old and 6 to 12 years old.
