WASHINGTON, DC – Today the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced the release of the 2011 DC Spring/Summer Fun Guide. This year’s guide offers a variety of exciting spring and summer activities for District youth and their families to enjoy. In addition to DPR programs, residents will also find information on the DC Free Summer Meals Program, DC Public Library Summer Reading Programs, and the Summer Youth Employment Program. Additional information will be made available in the coming weeks about programs offered by other District agencies. Continue to check for further updates.

The 2011 DC Spring/Summer Fun Guide has something for everyone with programs and services such as summer camps, free summer meals, creative writing, crafts, sports and recreation, and more! DPR will offer many exciting youth camps across the District. Over 60 camps will be held at recreation centers in every ward. Camps range from age specific camps like Little Explorers and Discovery Camp to themed camps such as Aqua Day Camp and Green Buds Environmental Camp. Whether your looking for sports camps or teen camps, DPR has something to keep youth engaged and safe throughout the hot summer months.

Camp fees are $100 per two week session for District residents and $218.75 for non-residents. DPR will again offer their free REC Camps at 21 recreation centers this summer. REC Camp registration can be done on-site. For more information on DPR Camps visit the summer camps website at summercamps.dc.gov.
