DPR Responds to Snow Emergency

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Mayor Muriel Bowser has declared a public emergency as well as a snow emergency for the District of Columbia due to the current weather forecast. Mayor Bowser announced the District government will open on time Friday, January 22, 2016 and will close at noon (12 pm).  Please visit snow.dc.gov for information on citywide services, snow safety tips and more.  

  • All DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) recreation/community centers, aquatic facilities and administrative offices will close at 12 noon on Friday, January 22, 2016.  
  • Most DPR programs will be cancelled on Friday, January 22, 2016. 
  • All sport league games have been cancelled between Friday, January 22 to Sunday, January 24, 2016. 
  • All permits have been cancelled for activities between Friday, January 22 to Sunday, January 24, 2016.
  • Select DPR facilities will serve as warming centers for District residents.
  • DPR facilities are maintained by the DC Department of General Services. For snow removal,  facility repairs or maintenance inquiries, please contact DGS at (202) 727-2800, dgs.dc.gov or on twitter @dcdgs.
