(Washington, DC) - The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced it will crown its first champions of DPR Youth Futsal with a championship tournament marking the end of its inaugural youth indoor soccer league. The event will be held at Columbia Heights Community Center Saturday, March 10 – Wednesday March 14, 2018.

The co-ed soccer league at Columbia Heights, which began December 9, 2018, has been successful in creating a positive and safe environment for youth 12 – 19 years old.  Male and female youth came together to compete and celebrate diversity. The DPR Futsal league has helped reduce violent incidents and reduce anti-social behavior while strengthening community involvement.

Each Futsal final will be followed by a trophy ceremony for the winning teams.  The University of the District of Columbia is providing the trophies and the 4-H Club Youth Development Program has also been an integral part of the program.
