(Washington, DC) - The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) has temporarily closed Hearst Recreation Center (3950 37th Street, NW) for at least one week due to a strong odor and some facility damage due to the weather. The site is offline starting today, Monday, January 5, 2015 through Monday, January 12, 2015. The Department of General Services (DGS) is currently on-site, conducting an assessment of the center and administering all site repairs and maintenance.
All programs, events and indoor permitted events taking place at the center are being relocated.
The Cooperative Play program has been relocated to Hardy Recreation Center (4500 Q Street, NW). The Afternoon Access program will be held at Hearst Elementary School, next door to the recreation center.
Constituents will be notified when the recreation center re-opens.
