Center to temporarily close May 2, 2011 for renovations.
DPR will temporarily close Lamond Recreation Center from May 2, 2011 until June 17, 2011. The center will close in order to make improvements on the facility to better serve District residents.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced the closure of Lamond Recreation Center beginning May 2, 2011. The center will close in order to make improvements on the facility to better serve District residents. The facility will be closed to the public from May 2, 2011 until June 17, 2011. Renovations to the site include:
- Upgrades to the computer lab, including new computer tables, new chairs, & new computers
- Total renovation of the gymnasium, including new bleachers, resurfaced gym floor, etc.
- Repainting the facility
- Removal of existing floor tile and/or carpet throughout the facility
- Installation of new floor tile throughout the facility
- Upgrades to the restrooms
- Resurfacing of the parking lot
- New site amenities
