Marvin Gaye Recreation Center Temporarily Closes for 19th Annual Community Improvement Day

DPR will close the Marvin Gaye Recreation Center beginning Monday, September 26, 2011 in preparation for the DCBIA's 19th Annual Community Improvement Day.

Washington, DC - Today, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced that the Marvin Gaye Recreation Center, at 6201 Banks Place, NE, will be closed beginning Monday, September 26, 2011 in preparation for the District of Columbia Building Industry Association’s (DCBIA) 19th Annual Community Improvement Day.

On Saturday, October 1, 2011, the Marvin Gaye Recreation Center will undergo major exterior and interior improvements. Hundreds of volunteers will help create outdoor classrooms, install new landscape features, paint a mural dedicated to Marvin Gaye and another improvement projects. The site will reopen Monday, October 3, 2011.
