(Washington, DC) – As DC Public Schools (DCPS) prepare to go on Spring Break, Mayor Muriel Bowser is reminding parents and families that the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is hosting a week of fun, engaging activities for young residents from Saturday, April 12 through Saturday, April 19.
DPR Spring Break will feature a wide range of free events across the District, including a skate party, a lifesaving skills class, a teen brunch day party, and much more. Find a full list of events below and at dprspringbreak.splashthat.com.
Spring Splash Pool Party
Teens are invited to kick off their Spring Break with a dip in the pool.

Upshur Recreation Center Spring Open House
DPR’s Roving Leaders are transforming Upshur Recreation Center into a weeklong fun hub. Each day is filled with activities from pickleball, culinary and STEM activities to bingo and movies on the lawn.

Pump It Up Palace

Roving Leaders’ Spring Fling Dive 2025

Junior Lifeguard Academy
DPR Aquatics offers youth ages 9-15 to build pool safety skills. During spring break, participants will learn about conditioning, water safety, the drowning process, the importance of lifeguarding, and more.

Open Gyms
DPR gyms at recreation centers will be open across the District, including King-Greenleaf, Ridge Road, Sherwood, Hillcrest, Fort Davis, Rosedale, Benning Stoddert, Woody Ward, and more. Open Indoor DPR Pools
Ten indoor pools will be open across the District, including DCPS pools Marie Reed, Takoma, Roosevelt, Dunbar, and Balou. For hours of individual pools, please visit dpr.dc.gov/page/indoor-pools.
DPR is also providing various out-of-school activities that are already fully enrolled, with nearly 300 youth set to participate in Spring Break Camps at thirteen recreation center locations, as well as multiple teen and youth field trips for DPR Supreme Teens, Young Men Future Leaders, and Young Ladies on the Rise program participants. Youth will have access to some amazing experiences attending Medieval Times, Skate Zone, F1 Arcade, National Aquarium, Go Ape, Go Karts, and a Department of Parks and Works (DPW) auto mechanic workshop.
