(Washington, DC) – On Saturday, August 18, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Mayor Muriel Bowser and the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), in conjunction with the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities (CAH), will celebrate the 4th Annual Chuck Brown Day to commemorate the legacy of the “Godfather of Go-Go.” The event, featuring live music, is free and open to the public at Chuck Brown Memorial Park.

Chuck Brown Day is a celebration of Brown’s life, as well as the rich and original musical history of the District. Relatives of the singer will be present, along with the Chuck Brown Foundation who will host their annual “Back to School Giveaway” at the park, starting at 1:00 p.m.

The event will feature performances by The Chuck Brown Band, Trouble Funk, and special guest, HBO actor and the Back Yard Band leader, Anwan “Big G” Glover. Food trucks and vendors will be on site. DPR recommends bringing a blanket or lawn chair for an afternoon of entertainment and fun.
