Mayor Bowser Extends Aquatic Center Hours at Select Locations With Expectation of High Temperatures

Sunday, June 17, 2018

In anticipation of high temperatures throughout the day, Mayor Bowser has extended operation hours until 7 pm on Sunday, June 17 at the following aquatic centers:

  • Banneker Aquatic Facility
  • Oxon Run Aquatic Facility
  • Harry Thomas Aquatic Facility
  • Randall Aquatic Facility
  • Kenilworth Aquatic Facility
  • Upshur Aquatic Facility

Throughout the 2018 outdoor pool season, pools will open one hour earlier than previous years, opening at 11 am. Learn more about outdoor pool hours and locations at dpr.dc.gov.

In addition to pools, residents can also cool down at the District’s free spray parks. Spray Parks are small outdoor parks equipped with kid-friendly fountains that are perfect for splashing around and escaping the summer heat. There is at least one spray park in every ward of the District. To find the spray park closest to you, visit https://dpr.dc.gov/page/spray-parks.

All spray parks are open from 10 am to 8 pm daily through Labor Day, Monday, September 3, 2018.

For information about staying safe during the heat, go to heat.dc.gov or call the Mayor’s Citywide Call Center by dialing 311. Residents can register to receive Heat Emergency alerts on their devices at alertdc.dc.gov.
