(WASHINGTON, DC) – Mayor Bowser today announced that the District will host the 3rd Annual Taste of the World Festival. The festival will highlight the rich diversity of international communities that live and thrive in the District of Columbia. The event takes place on Saturday, August 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Emery Heights Recreation Center in Ward 4, supported by the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR).

“Washington, DC is a diverse, international city, but it is not our diversity alone that makes us great – it’s our embrace and celebration of our diversity that sets us apart," said Mayor Bowser.   "At the Taste of the World Festival we celebrate the people, culture, and DC values that make us the greatest city in the world.”

This year’s festival will showcase food, music, and dance from the Dominican Republic as the honored host country, and other featured countries include India, Ethiopia, and several Caribbean islands. Guests will be able to enjoy the flavors, sights, and sounds of the District’s international culture.

The festival will consist of three areas: the “Live Entertainment Stage” will exhibit and display traditional music and dances including audience participation; the “International Food Court” will allow participants to sample a wide variety of international delicacies; and the “International Market” is where shoppers can browse and purchase from a marketplace of handmade and customary items.

The event will also include a children’s zone and a Caribbean game station with carnival masks, Caribbean bingo, and more.

The festival is free and open to the public. DPR encourages guests to come wearing traditional dress or tropical attire. For more information or to RSVP, click HERE.
