Residents of All Ages to Celebrate the New Year in Anacostia Park at the Mayor’s 6th Annual 5K Run/Walk

(Washington, DC) – Mayor Bowser is inviting residents to celebrate the New Year at the 6th annual #FITDC Fresh Start 5K. The 5K is being held tomorrow, January 1, 2020 in Anacostia Park. The 5K will begin at 10 am, but same-day registration begins at 9 am.

“It is not too late to join us for this fun annual event,” said Mayor Bowser. “Whether you want to set a personal record, walk the course, or just cheer on family and friends, we welcome residents of all ages and abilities. We have been doing this event since 2015, and every year it is the perfect way to kick off the New Year – healthy and energized. I’ll see you there, DC.”

Last year’s 5K drew over 2,000 participants to the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood.

The race is free and participants will receive a #FITDC Fresh Start T-shirt, runner’s bib, and other giveaways.

#FITDC Fresh Start 5K partners include Aetna, Vida Fitness, Pacers Running, and various running groups from across the District. Residents can register here. A courtesy shuttle will be provided by DC Department of Parks and Recreation from Anacostia Metro Station starting at 8:30 am.
