Mayor Gray to Host Upcoming Senior Picnic Fest

Thursday, September 5, 2013
DC Seniors Encouraged to Participate in DPR's Annual Event on September 19

(Washington, DC) Mayor Vincent C. Gray, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and the DC Office on Aging (DCOA) invite members of the District's senior population to DPR's 2013 Annual Senior Picnic Fest on Thursday, September 19,  from 10 am to 2 pm, at the Oxon Run Park located at Wheeler Road and Valley Avenue, SE. The free event was rescheduled from its original date in June because of inclement weather.

“DPR continues to offer these opportunities for leisure that are available to all District residents," said DPR Director Jesús Aguirre. “At the Senior Picnic Fest, participants can socialize with one another, enjoy live entertainment, partake in the board games and learn more from health experts, who can guide them into making better choices."

For more than 30 years, the Senior Picnic Fest has recognized and celebrated the contributions of seniors to the District of Columbia. Seniors can interact with city officials and DC government employees, participate in fitness activities, enjoy a free meal and pick up senior-related information from exhibitor tables.
