WASHINGTON, DC – The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announces it's summer camp registration, dates and information for the 2013 Summer Camp season.  For Summer 2013, DPR will offer a new rolling registration period from Monday, February 4, 2013 through Thursday, February 14, 2013 for District residents. Open Registration for non-District residents will open on Monday, March 4, 2013 at 10 am.  During the rolling registration period, a specific group of camp sites will open for online registration each day at 10 am.  Once the online registration is open for a particular camp, the registration will remain open until all the camp spaces are filled.  Please make note of the registration dates for the camp (or camps) of your choice to ensure that online registration is initiated on the correct date.

Registration can be completed online or in person at the DPR summer camps office located at Columbia Heights Recreation Center - 1480 Girard Street, NW 4th floor.  Space fills on a first-come, first-serve basis and enrollment is subject to availability.  It is recommended that parents create an online DPR account for all campers in the DPR registration system prior to the registration period, in order to be best prepared.

Beginning on January 21, 2013,  DPR will open the Reduced Rate Pre-Qualification Period for DC residents.  Residents can come to the Summer Camp Office (1480 Girard Street, NW - 4th floor) to complete a reduced rate application.  Applications must be submitted in person.  Qualification requirements can be found on DPR's Summer Camp website - summercamps.dc.gov.  The goal of the pre-qualification period is to assist residents with completing their reduced rate applications in time to register for camp when registration opens on February 4, 2013.  However, reduced rate applications will be accepted throughout the entire Summer 2013 season. DC residents interested in applying for a reduced rate must apply PRIOR to registering for camp.

DPR’s summer camp will consist of four, two-week camp sessions starting on June 24, 2013 and ending on August 16, 2013. Most camps will operate Monday through Friday, from 9 am – 5 pm with before care from 8 am - 9 am and after care from 5 pm - 6 pm.  There is an additional charge for before & after care.  Select DPR camp sites will offer the Free Summer Meals Program.  Note that camps that DO NOT offer the free summer meals program are indicated in the listing below. Children attending camps that do not offer the free summer meals program must bring their own lunch and snacks.  Also, DPR is currently implementing Mayor Gray’s “Play DC: Playground Improvement Initiative”, renovating 32 play spaces throughout the District. Centers that have the notation *Play DC site will have construction taking place on their playground area. At these sites, campers will NOT have access to the playground area during the construction process and DPR will take every precaution to ensure campers safety.
