Select DPR Aquatic Centers to Close for the 31st Annual Black History Invitational Swim Meet Weekend

(Washington, DC) - The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announces that select DPR Aquatic Centers will be closed due to this year's 31st Annual Black History Invitational Swim Meet (BHISM).

The Takoma Aquatic Center (300 Van Buren St., NW) will close on Thursday, February 16 at noon. Takoma AC will serve as the host site for the BHISM and will be closed for public swimming through Tuesday, February 21, 2017.

William H. Rumsey Aquatic Center (635 North Carolina Ave. SE) and Barry Farm Aquatic Center (1230 Sumner Rd., SE) will be open for public swim only (no classes will be held) during their normal operating hours on Friday, February 17 through Sunday, February 19, 2017. Only Rumsey and Barry Farm Aquatic Centers will be open during the Black History Invitational Swim Meet weekend. All other DPR aquatic centers will be closed starting on Friday, February 17 and will re-open on Tuesday, February 21, 2017.

Please note that all DPR facilities (including all aquatic centers) will be closed on Monday, February 20, 2017, in observance of Presidents’ Day. For more information, please visit The 31st Annual Black History Swim Meet website or visit dpr.dc.gov.
