Trinidad & Tobago Men’s National Soccer Team Tryouts to Take Place in DC at Edgewood Recreation Center

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, the Bowser Administration and DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced a soccer camp and tryout for the Trinidad & Tobago Under-20 and Senior Men’s National Football [Soccer] Team set to take place at the Edgewood Recreation Center on Saturday and Sunday, April 16 and 17, 2022.

“Hosting this camp for the Trinidad & Tobago National Team highlights the investments DPR continues to make in the world’s most popular sport.” Said DPR Director Delano Hunter, “From our youth recreational leagues up to the highest levels of international competition, DPR has it all!”

DPR runs soccer leagues and teams for an array of ages and skill levels, including the marquee event of the year, the DC Cup, an annual invitational tournament attracting teams from around the country and internationally is hosted in DC each year over the 4th of July weekend. Edgewood Recreation Center and fields were completely rebuilt in 2019, including a state-of-the-art synthetic turf youth-regulation-size soccer field.

The tryout, hosted by the North American Caribbean Training Method (NACTM), will feature select North American and European-based players of Trinbagonian descent. National team head coach Angus Eve will be in attendance seeking to complete his roster for the Under-20 national team that will compete in the CONCACAF Under-20 Championships in Honduras in June 2022 as well as for the Senior team who is grouped in League C of the Nations League.

“We are excited to provide an opportunity for players of Trinbagonian descent to showcase their talents to earn a roster spot on the U-20s and Senior teams,” said NACTM Soccer Camps Director Justin Reid, “There is so much talent in North America and Europe for players of Trinbagonian descent and we are happy to be able to offer this platform.”

The public is invited to attend and view the training and games on Saturday, April 16, and Sunday, April 17, 2022, at Edgewood Recreation Center, 301 Franklin Street NE. To register to attend, go to http://dpr.events.
