(Washington, DC) - Today, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced that Turkey Thicket Aquatic Facility (1100 Michigan Ave., NE | Ward 5), which was scheduled to open on Saturday, November 7, will remain closed through Sunday, November 8 and reopen on Monday, November 9, 2015.  The Department of General Services (DGS) is conducting and overseeing all extended facility maintenance projects at DPR's indoor pools.  DGS notified DPR of additional time needed to complete maintenance and repairs at the Turkey Thicket Aquatic Facility.

During this week, patrons are encouraged to use any of DPR's indoor aquatic centers.  DPR recommends that early morning swimmers patronize Marie Reed Aquatic Facility (2200 Champlain Street, NW || 6 am to 9 am - Monday through Thursday) during this maintenance closure period.

On Friday, August 14, 2015, DPR announced the 2015 Indoor Pools Closure Maintenance Schedule.  DPR will continue to keep patrons updated with any changes that may occur and we apologize for the inconvenience.  For any additional questions or further assistance, please call the DPR Aquatics office at (202) 671-1289.

 

2015 INDOOR POOLS CLOSURE SCHEDULE

• Completed: H.D. Woodson Aquatic Center (540 55th Street, NE | Ward 7) will close beginning Sunday, August 16 through Sunday, August 30, 2015. The facility is expected to re-open on Monday, August 31, 2015.
   
• Update: Turkey Thicket will now reopen on Monday, November 9, 2015 -- Turkey Thicket Aquatic Center (1100 Michigan Ave., NE | Ward 5) will close beginning Monday, October 26 through Friday, November 6, 2015. The facility is expected to re-open on Saturday, November 7, 2015.
   
• William H. Rumsey Aquatic Center (635 North Carolina Ave., SE | Ward 6) will close beginning Sunday, November 15 through Sunday, November 22, 2015. The facility is expected to re-open on Monday, November 23, 2015.
   
• Takoma Aquatic Center (300 Van Buren St., NW | Ward 4) will close beginning Sunday, January 3, 2016 through Saturday, January 16, 2016.  The facility is expected to re-open on Sunday, January 17, 2016.
   
• Wilson Aquatic Center (4551 Fort Dr., NW | Ward 3) will close beginning Monday, February 1 through Sunday, February 7, 2016.  The facility is expected to re-open on Monday, February 8, 2016.
   
• Deanwood Aquatic Center (1350 - 49th St., NE | Ward 7) will close beginning Monday, February 15 through Sunday, February 21, 2016.  The facility is expected to re-open on Monday, February 22, 2016.
